Foreign Minister of Belarus embarks on a tour of Central and South America

Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei embarked on a tour of Central and South America on 19 June. The tour which will include stops in Nicaragua, Ecuador and Cuba will complete on 25 June, spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry Dmitry Mironchik media. The visits have been organized in pursuance of the instructions given by the President of Belarus on the expansion of the product range and geographical diversification of the Belarusian exports, the development of economic cooperation and strengthening the political dialogue:

"While in Nicaragua, Vladimir Makei is set to meet with the country’s authorities and hold talks in the Foreign Ministry as well as with the leading Nicaraguan companies. The issues for discussion will include the state and prospects for building up political, trade and economic cooperation with the focus on the formation of an intensive economic cooperation program and taking the bilateral political dialogue onto the highest level.

In Ecuador the Belarusian Foreign Minister plans to discuss the progress of the two parties in the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of President of Ecuador Rafael Correa to Belarus in 2013. The priority attention will be attached to the implementation of joint projects in the trade, economic, sci-tech and other areas, the preparation of the second meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission for trade, economic, cooperation and the expansion of business contacts.

While in Cuba, the parties will talk over political cooperation and new cooperation areas in the trade and economic sector."
