The development of cooperation between Belarus and the Council of Europe has been discussed at the Belarusian Embassy in Paris. These issues were high on the agenda of the meeting between Pavel Latushko, Belarusian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France, and Jean-Claude Frecon, President of the Chamber of Local Authorities of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe (CLRAE), a member of the French Senate.
The sides reviewed a number of issues pertaining to the development of cooperation between Belarus and the Council of Europe and paid special attention to the development of contacts between the Council for Cooperation of Local Self-Government Bodies under Belarus’ Council of the Republic and the CLRAE.
The sides also touched upon the regional cooperation between Belarus and France. Taking into account the fact that Jean-Claude Frecon was Mayor of Pouilly-les-Feurs (twin town of Belarus’ Glubokoye) and visited Belarus four times, the sides agreed to facilitate the development of the Belarusian-French inter-regional contacts.
