Presidents of Belarus and Sri Lanka Alexander Lukashenko and Mahinda Rajapaksa confirmed the policy of comprehensive development of mutually beneficial cooperation. This is stated in a joint statement adopted by the Heads of State following the talks in Minsk. The two leaders affirmed their intention to bring the Belarusian Lanka cooperation to a new level, to continue supporting each other in the international arena.
On the whole, summing up the talks, President of Belarus pointed out that the whole range of bilateral cooperation was discussed. Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus-Lanka relations have recently demonstrated a clearly positive development:
“We see great potential for the development of our dialogue in politics, trade, industry, science and technology, culture, education, military industry and other spheres.
During the talks we confirmed our intention of reaching a brand new level of Belarus-Sri Lanka cooperation. This, in turn, needs direct contacts between the legislative authorities of the two countries; closer inter-parliamentary dialogue, and not only in the bilateral dimension but also within various international organizations.”
