The Government of Belarus has optimized the list of the government comprehensive targeted scientific and technical programs for 2011-2015.
The list has been shortened from 12 to 10. This resolution was taken in consultation with the head of state. Work on optimizing the list of the programs was led by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the State Committee for Science and Technology jointly with government customers. The main criterion for inclusion in this list was the contribution to the creation of new products for radical modernization of enterprises, reduction of material- and energy-intensity, increasing high-technology exports.
By 2016, these programs are expected to help create about 150 new manufactures of original and generic pharmaceutical substances, medicinal and diagnostic tools for healthcare, and also multiple-link road trains, urban passenger vehicles compliant with the Euro-5 international standards, small navigational GLONASS-GPS antennas, space and aviation technology, veterinary medicines, additives and bio-conservative agents for feeds for agriculture, deep-frozen concentrates for dairy industry. These programs are also supposed to result in more than 100 innovative projects, approximately 650 new technologies, 15 new facilities and upgrade of more than 100 existing enterprises. The export of products is projected to generate more than $900 million, import substitution to save more than $1 billion.
