Belarus' GDP is projected to go up by 2.9% in 2022, Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov told the media ahead of the meeting of the Council of Ministers on 21 September, BelTA has learned.

“Next year, we plan to achieve an economic growth of about 2.9%. This is the program level, and we are trying to meet the target,” said Aleksandr Chervyakov.

In his words, Belarus' social and economic development forecast for 2022 is formed taking into account the prevailing conditions, including sanctions. “Our task is to minimize the impact of sanctions both on industries and population. In this regard, we have prepared a draft presidential decree which identifies three key tasks for the next year. They are to increase exports, investments and incomes of the population. Solving these tasks, we will ensure economic growth at the planned level,” the minister said.

The draft decree also provides for the increase of prices by not more than 6% in 2022.
