Azarenka through to Southern California Open quarterfinal

          The Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka, who is back from her Wimbledon injury, won the second-round match at the Southern California Open tournament which prize pot is $795,000. Both players did not commit many unforced errors, Victoria Azarenka making three whilst Francesca Schiavone five. This was the fifth time Victoria Azarenka had met the Italian. The Belarusian leads in the current head-to-head score 4:1. In the quarterfinal Victoria Azarenka will encounter either Urszula Radwanska of Poland or Jelena Jankovic of Serbia. In her professional career Victoria Azarenka won two Grand Slam tournaments and topped WTA ranking in the course of 51 weeks. The injury at Wimbledon ruled Victoria Azarenka out of several tournaments, which, however, has not affected her position in WTA ranking.
