Belarus joins International Organization of Securities Commissions as associate member

Belarus' Finance Ministry joined the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) as an associate member. The decision was made by the board of the organization, BelTA learned from the Finance Ministry.

Thus, the Finance Ministry has gained access to the most up-to-date approaches in the field of securities market regulation and also an opportunity to seek advice from the organization's experts. IOSCO focuses on enforcement, corporate governance, long-term financing of small and medium-sized businesses and infrastructure, and protecting investor rights to stimulate economic growth.

"Getting the status of an associate member of IOSCO is an important intermediate stage of further integration of the Belarusian stock market into the global financial system. The near-term priority is the accession to the Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Consultation and Cooperation and the Exchange of Information, which will enable the Finance Ministry to establish cooperation with most foreign regulators of the securities market and will help Belarusian enterprises attract investment in international capital markets,” the Finance Ministry noted.
