Kyrgyzstan’s observer status in Eurasian Economic Union ‘example for other countries’

The acquisition of the observer status in the Eurasian Economic Union by Kyrgyzstan is an example for other countries to follow. The opinion was voiced by Georgy Grits, an economist, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Scientific and Industrial Association (BNPA).
“It is a vivid demonstration of the fact that the Single Economic Space is an attractive integration project,” said the expert as he commented on the signing of the memorandum on enhancing interaction between the Eurasian Economic Commission and Kyrgyzstan at the time of the Minsk session of the CIS Heads of Government Council.
Kyrgyzstan applied for membership in the Customs Union earlier. At present the designated working group is busy preparing the roadmap for Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the Customs Union. As for Ukraine, the country has expressed its interest in getting the observer status both in the Customs Union/the Single Economic Space and in the future Eurasian Economic Union.
