Preparations for the future World Championships have been discussed at a congress under the aegis of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) in Stockholm, Sweden.
A report on Belarus’ preparation for the 2014 IIHF World Championship was presented by Chairman of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation, head of the Directorate for the 2014 IIHF World Championship Yevgeny Vorsin. The 15-minute presentation focused on key aspects of Belarus’ preparation for the major ice hockey tournament as well as the measures aimed at successful hosting of the event.
Yevgeny Vorsin noted that the country is looking forward to hosting the competition: “Belarus and the Belarusians are ready to show the world that we are a hospitable country where ice hockey is one of the major sports. All participants of the forthcoming feast will make themselves at home in Belarus.”
Yevgeny Vorsin familiarized the congress participants with the 2014 IIHF World Championship mascot, a bison whose name is Volat.
President of the IIHF Rene Fasel summarized the presentation by underscoring that the ice hockey community has positive expectations from the year 2014. He also said that the IIHF delegation is getting prepared for the visit to Minsk.
