Mogilev Oblast intends to develop alternative power engineering using Chinese investments. The Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee and China Nuclear Power Engineering Company (CNPEC) signed an agreement on cooperation. The Executive Committee will authorize CNPEC to implement projects for the construction of solar panel power generators with the total capacity of at least 300MW in the region till 31 December 2018 and guarantees assistance in the company’s investment efforts in Belarus.
The signed agreement is the basis for long-term versatile and mutually beneficial cooperation. Mogilev Oblast is interested in getting projects involving pure energy implemented as soon as possible. There are plans to sign an investment contract with the Chinese company in September 2013 to implement a pilot project for the construction of a power plant that will use solar panels and will be able to generate 10MW of electricity in the free economic zone Mogilev. There are plans to open a factory to make solar panels there by the end of 2015.
