Belarusian-Czech political cooperation gains momentum in 2014

The political cooperation between Belarus and the Czech Republic received a strong impetus in 2014, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Czech Republic Vasily Markovich said.
“Belarus’ independent, peace-loving, and balanced foreign policy aimed at strengthening the cooperation with other countries, the position of Belarusian authorities on the Ukrainian crisis, and some other factors allowed   Belarus and the Czech Republic to considerably improve their relations in all fields,” the diplomat said.
This can be proved by the fact that in 2014 a high-level parliamentary delegation of Belarus visited Prague for the first time in the last 12 years. Besides, a Belarus-Czechia friendship group was set up in the Czech parliament in late 2014. The group will work towards strengthening the inter-parliamentary dialogue between the two states and developing cooperation with Czech MPs in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). “The embassy will further promote cooperation between Belarusian and Czech MPs and develop contacts with those MP who have a balanced position towards Belarus,” Vasily Markovich noted.
