Belarus’ new parliament launches first session

       The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of new, fifth, convocation gathered in the Oval Hall for its first session on 18 October.
      The MPs were to form working bodies of the session, confirm the agenda, elect the Chairman of the House of Representatives and his deputies. The new parliament was also set to decide on the composition of permanent commissions.
      During the first session the MPs elected Chairman of the House of Representatives. Speaker of the fourth convocation parliament Vladimir Andreichenko was supported by MPs at this post.
Attending the session were diplomats accredited in Belarus as well as a delegation from the Russian Federation led by First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Ivan Melnikov.
       Let us remind you that a total of 109 MPs were elected into the House of Representatives in September 2012. 18% of them are re-elected parliamentarians.
