Belarus and Russia to design supercomputer services for fuel and energy industry.

       Belarus and Russia plan to create supercomputer services for the fuel and energy industry. The information was released by Vladimir Anishchenko, Deputy Director General for Science of the United Informatics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, in his speech before Russian reporters, who were on a media tour around Belarus.
      There are plans to create supercomputing services as part of the Union State program SKIF-Nedra. In September 2012 the United Informatics Institute released information that the concept of the program had been approved. The program’s main target is assistance to ensuring the energy security of the Union State. There are plans to create specialized computers and software for the oil and gas industry.
The supercomputer services will be used virtually at all the stages involved in the extraction of natural resources.
      The service will be based on the supercomputer series SKIF-Geo and the software package SKIF-Nedra for processing and modeling geological and geophysical data.
