Belarus-Moldova trade up 20.2% in January-November 2014


      In January-November 2014 the trade between Belarus and Moldova totaled $382.4 million, up 20.2% as compared to the same period of 2013, and exceeded the total volume of trade in 2013 when it amounted to $357 million, we learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Moldova.
      During his visit to Moldova on 24-25 September 2014, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko noted the two countries should aim for a $0.5 billion mutual trade. The Belarusian and Moldovan presidents held talks and agreed to develop the trade and economic cooperation between the countries. Alexander Lukashenko pointed out that the production cooperation of Belarus with Moldova was promising as it could help it enter the markets of third countries and the EU and expand the bilateral trade.
    Moldova is an important Belarus' trading and economic partner ranking fifth among the CIS countries. The mutual trade soared five times since 2000 to make up almost $360 million in 2013. Belarus' main exports to Moldova include oil products, tobacco, tractors, trucks and ceramic tiles. Belarus imports Moldavian wine-making materials and grape wines, strong drinks, fresh fruit, maize and other products.
