Belarus interested in China’s Silk Way’s economic belt


        The Chinese project to build an economic belt along the Silk Way is of interest for Belarus, BelTA learned from experts of the Information and Analysis Center under the Belarus President Administration at the meeting with a delegation of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).
      The delegation was led by Li Yongquan, Director of the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies. The economic belt of the Silk Way is an initiative to create the logistics infrastructure for the fast delivery of merchandise from Asia to the European Union. The project is expected to involve 18 countries with the population of over 3 billion people. The construction of new motorways, railroads, pipelines will contribute to the development of power engineering, agriculture, mining engineering, tourism, and cultural exchange.
      During the meeting Belarusian and Chinese experts also discussed matters concerning the Ukrainian crisis, prospects of the Eurasian Economic Union, topical problems of the international economy.
