Belarus 36th out of 173 countries in children’s well-being index

Belarus sits 36th out of 173 countries in the children’s well-being index and ranks among the top countries in the index, Vice Premier of Belarus Anatoly Tozik said at the UNICEF Regional Conference “Strengthening Child Protection Systems to Protect Children from Neglect, Abuse, Violence and Exploitation”, BelTA reports.

“The protection of child rights and legal interests is one of the major tasks of the government, an unconditional priority of Belarus’ domestic policy. Our country has developed a sustainable mechanism to protect the rights of children. Belarus works hard to make sure every child is happy,” Anatoly Tozik said. According to him, in the focus are child education and healthcare provision for children and mothers. Belarus does its best to promote traditional families and responsible parenthood. The country has come up with an efficient instrument to identify dysfunctional families at an early stage. The number of orphanages is decreasing as more children are raised by foster families.

A lot of work has been done to protect children from various forms of violence.
