Belarus is eager to refinance half of external liabilities in 2013

Belarus intends to refinance nearly half of its external debts in 2013, Belarusian Finance Minister Andrei Kharkovets told the session of the Budget, Finance, and Tax Policy Commission of the House of Representatives.
In 2013 Belarus will have to pay $3.1 billion as part of its external debt, said the official. The government intends to refinance part of the debt portfolio, the Minister remarked.
“In 2013 we will work in the following directions. Firstly, efforts will be put into getting $0.9 billion via two tranches of a loan from the EurAsEC Anticrisis Fund. Preserving the macrofinancial stability and demonstrating consistency in honoring the obligations before the EurAsEC Anticrisis Fund will be the determinant criterion. Work will begin this year to enter international capital markets in order to possibly float government bonds in 2013”.
According to the Belarusian Finance Minister, as a result, Belarus plans to refinance nearly half of the external liabilities in order to bring the next year’s volume of payments closer to this year’s.
