Three planes carrying Oleshky evacuees land in Belarus
Three planes carrying evacuated residents from the town of Oleshky on the Kherson front have landed at Gomel airport, BelTA has learned.
The journey was long: residents of Oleshky traveled to Anapa by bus before spending several hours in the air to reach Gomel. To welcome them, the airport’s entire facilities were utilized, with a fully equipped tent camp set up on-site.
Emergency specialists, medical staff, and Red Cross volunteers immediately began providing assistance to the evacuated residents, who arrived essentially from a combat zone. The youngest passengers are invited to spend time in play areas, for instance, watching cartoons.
As previously reported, Belarus has joined the humanitarian operation in Oleshky. Minsk has become an active participant in this international process. On 29 October, the country served as the launchpad for a crucial phase of the humanitarian mission.
The Belarusian side has created all necessary conditions for the first face-to-face contacts between representatives of Moscow and Kiev, providing comprehensive assistance and acting as a guarantor of security. The humanitarian operation is being carried out, in part, thanks to the established relations of trust between Belarus and Ukraine. In this regard, it has been possible to secure the operation and, yet again, save people’s lives.
