Some 85% of rapeseed areas harvested in Belarus

Belarusian farmers have cleared more than 85% of rapeseed areas, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of early 24 August, grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) were harvested from 89.3% of the planned area (1.9 million hectares). Harvesting was completed on 77.3% (274,600 hectares) in Vitebsk Oblast, 91.5% (311,700 hectares) in Gomel Oblast, 89.2% (272,300 hectares) in Grodno Oblast, 91.4% (410,200 hectares) in Minsk Oblast, and 85.8% (284,400 hectares) in Mogilev Oblast.

Belarus threshed 7.089 million tonnes of grain, with the average yield at 37.3 centners per hectare. Last year the average yield at this stage of harvesting was lower, 30.5 centners per hectare.

Rapeseed was harvested from 308,900 hectares of land (85.4% of the designated area), with 816,200 tonnes threshed (the average yield stood at 26.4 centners per hectare). Winter rapeseed to be used as grain was planted on the area of 332,500 hectares, 78.6% of the target.
As part of the second cutting agricultural workers cut down grass on 875,200 hectares or 85.7% of the plan. Some 750,900 tonnes of hay (78.6% of the target) and 11.99 million tonnes of haylage (89.3%) were produced.

During this period, 5,831 grain harvesters were in operation, which is 77.3% of the available harvesting equipment in Belarus.
