Belarus viewed as driving force of Eurasian integration

Belarus is a driving force of Eurasian integration, member of the Board (Minister) for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission Sergei Glazyev told the media on the sidelines of the EAEU business forum “Integration: Strategy for Advanced Development” on 28 October, BelTA has learned.

“The analysis we are conducting shows that Belarus works very effectively within the single economic space. Today Belarus is the most active participant in all integration processes. Belarus is the only member state of the Eurasian Economic Union for which mutual trade within the EAEU is more important than trade with third countries. Belarus is a driving force of the Eurasian economic integration, and the level of integration of Belarusian industry into the common market allows us to harmoniously build our joint future,” Sergei Glazyev said.

The EEC minister added that once Belarus and Russia set up the Union State they removed customs borders and border control, which is exercised in exceptional cases. “We have developed a common economic space, a common humanitarian area. Our people can travel freely, although pandemic restrictions are hindering it at present. Pandemic restrictions hinder travel in any state. So, the current state of affairs is not related to some border matters, it is related to the epidemiological situation. I think that in the foreseeable future all these restrictions will be removed and we will be back to normal life,” Sergei Glazyev stressed.
